Kurt Schmidt

Drums

Kurt is a transplant from the North East and has lived in the Low Country for the last 20 years. He started playing drums at a young age and spent many years with a competitive Fife and Drum corp. After high school, he began playing bar gigs around town. In the late 80’s, a punk rock group named “The Crayons” offered to have him play with them on a European tour, but he turned it down. Big mistake? Who knows. It was about then that adulting took over and drums took a back seat for the next 20 years. After moving to South Carolina, he began blowing the dust off his drumming chops. In the Charleston music scene he has previously  played with The Green Thieves, Front Porch Rockers,The Grey Area and Better On Wine. He is a big fan of Steely Dan and Kansas and is super excited to be part of Superfine!
