Gene is originally from Fernandina Beach, FL, and moved to Charleston, SC with the US Navy in 1981, settling there permanently in 1990. Inspired by artists during a Key West tour, he launched a 25-year solo-acoustic career spanning Mare Island, CA to Charleston, including a memorable Fourth of July performance for the American Ambassador in Curacao. Later, Gene discovered his affinity for bass while doing an emergency fill-in gig and has spent the last decade devoted to studying and playing bass with local bands. He values connecting with audiences and collaborating with musicians. Thanks to a chance reply to a social media post, Gene joined Superfine and now looks forward to making music with some of the most talented musicians in the area. He is supported in his musical pursuits by his wife of 26 years.
